Media Relations Campaign

Emergency Animal Clinic, a Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital

OBJECTIVE:

Foreign body ingestion is a very common occurrence among dogs and cats. On average, Emergency Animal Clinic (EAC), a Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital with five locations throughout the Phoenix metro area, performs foreign body removal surgery on 10 pets per month across their five hospitals. So when Tank, an 8-month-old puppy, was brought into EAC’s Gilbert location after swallowing a spoon, EAC wanted to take the opportunity to educate pet parents about the signs and symptoms of foreign body ingestion and how they can prevent it. Fetching reached out to local Phoenix media outlets, offering them the opportunity to interview one of EAC’s board certified emergency and critical care specialists about this important safety issue.

RESULT:

The media outreach campaign resulted in coverage by three local Phoenix TV stations – ABC 15, Channel 12 (NBC) and FOX 10 – as well as the Sunday edition of a local newspaper, the East Valley Tribune. In addition to the on-air coverage, Channel 12 posted its video and story online, which was then picked up by nearly 50 additional major daily newspaper and TV station websites throughout the country – including USA Today – reaching a total audience of nearly 50 million.
